Companies

Farmer-owned co-operative quoted on USX from 28 November 2025. It holds a minority shareholding in Alliance Group Limited (the processor), rather than being the processor itself. There is not yet a full post-listing annual result on this site. For meat-processing earnings see Alliance Group. USX disclosure is lighter than NZX.

meat Profile only

Farmer-linked red meat processor and exporter, historically South Island based. Not NZX-listed. Alliance Cooperative Limited (USX, from Nov 2025) is a related farmer vehicle with a minority stake — not a substitute for these processor accounts.

NZX:ARB

NZX-listed forestry genetics / seedling business (US and Brazil operations with an NZ listing). Not a NZ forest owner. Reports in US dollars. FY-end 31 March. Primary-sector index constituent more than a farm-gate name.

forestry FY26 on file

Farmer-owned fertiliser co-op. Not listed. Results and rebate are in the co-op’s annual report. FY25 included an $88m Kapuni gas-to-urea write-down, so statutory NPAT can look far worse than underlying earnings. FY26 reinstated a rebate after three years. Compare with Ravensdown rather than NZX dairy names.

NZX:CRP

NZX-listed phosphate project company (Chatham Rise), not an operating fertiliser co-op. Watchlist: limited financials until a project is producing. Do not confuse with Ballance or Ravensdown.

fertiliser Profile only

NZX:CVT

NZX-listed mānuka honey and bee-product company (not USX). Earnings track honey harvest, inventory and China/retail demand — a different cycle from dairy. FY-end is 30 June. Reported NPAT in FY24–FY25 was dominated by impairments and inventory write-downs; HY26 returned to a small statutory profit. Read underlying/normalised EBIT in the company pack alongside statutory NPAT.

NZX:DGL

NZX-listed wine group (Oyster Bay and related brands). Vintage quality, US/UK channel mix and grape supply matter more than the dairy calendar. The company steers to Operating NPAT; statutory NPAT includes grape fair-value swings. FY-end 30 June.

wine FY26 on file

Farmer-owned rural supplies co-op (stores, fuel, animal nutrition including SealesWinslow). Not listed. The integrated annual report is the primary public document. Group “turnover” including JVs is much larger than the statutory revenue line below — read both.

rural services FY25 on file

NZX:FWL

Smaller NZX-listed wine company versus Delegat. Same June year-end. Statutory NPAT includes grape and vineyard revaluations, so operating profit before revaluations is the cleaner read of the vintage.

wine FY26 on file

NZX:FCG

Farmer-owned dairy co-operative and New Zealand’s largest goods exporter. It collects most of the country’s milk, pays a regulated Farmgate Milk Price, and sells ingredients and foodservice products globally. Statutory NZX filings can read like a 1-pager; the Co-op’s own results pack, milk-price statement and quarterly business updates carry the management commentary. FY-end is 31 July. Q1 and Q3 are business updates, not full accounts.

dairy FY26 on file

NZX:LIC

Farmer-owned herd-improvement co-op listed on NZX (dairy genetics, herd testing, farm software). NZX designation is often non-standard because of co-op ownership rules. FY-end is 31 May — earlier than the dairy processors. Underlying earnings, not statutory NPAT, is what the dividend is based on (bull-team revaluations swing NPAT).

NZX:LOD

New Zealand solar generator and electricity retailer (often called Lodestone Solar). Not a farm-gate agri name: it develops, owns and operates utility-scale solar farms and sells power direct to commercial customers (Warehouse Group, Inghams, Briscoes) plus households in Hawke’s Bay. Founded 2019. Five farms operating at listing, a sixth under construction in Hawke’s Bay, targeting 16–18 farms by FY32. FY-end 31 March. Energy revenue (non-GAAP) is the measure management talks to; statutory NPAT swings on electricity-derivative fair values. IPO: first significant NZX Main Board float in about five years. Offer opened 29 September 2026 at a fixed $2.25, seeking $75–100 million of new shares (not underwritten; no existing-holder sell-down). It closed 14 October having raised the $75 million floor — 33.3 million new shares, about 17% of the post-IPO register — not the $100 million top. Around 10,000 new shareholders joined; almost half the cash came from new retail, the rest from institutions and existing holders topping up. Post-IPO market cap about $440 million. Existing holdings went into escrow. The PDS said the FY32 growth plan assumed $100 million, so raising the minimum may mean extra funding by FY30. How the IPO went: it listed, which was the hurdle. Trading started midday 22 October 2026 (NZX:LOD). First print $2.35, a 4.4% premium, then drifted back toward $2.26; the next session was around $2.30. Volume was light. That is a modest, orderly debut around the offer price — not a hot, oversubscribed book and not a flop. Watch the first listed interim (half to 30 September, due late November) for whether the $75 million is being put into farms as planned.

NZX:NZK

NZX-listed Chinook (king) salmon farmer, mainly Marlborough Sounds. Dual-listed on ASX. Balance date moved from 31 January to 30 September; FY26 is the year to 30 September 2026 (full-year due November). Biological performance, consents and export prices dominate. Pro-forma EBITDA is the company’s preferred trading measure.

seafood HY26 on file

NZX:NZL

NZX-listed land owner, not a farmer. It buys rural property (dairy, pastoral, horticulture, forestry) and leases it to tenants, so earnings are rent plus revaluations — not milk or meat prices. The number management steers to is AFFO (adjusted funds from operations), not statutory NPAT, which can jump when farms are revalued. Dividends are now targeted at 90–100% of AFFO, paid quarterly.

rural land HY26 on file

Privately owned independent milk processor (Talley’s group) and one of the larger non-Fonterra collectors — around 9–11% of farmgate milk after the Miraka / Mataura Valley deals. It does not publish annual reports or NZX/USX filings. Industry reviews (e.g. TDB 2025) exclude it for that reason. There are no public statutory numbers to put on this page.

dairy Profile only

State-owned enterprise (legal name Landcorp Farming Limited) that farms Crown land on behalf of New Zealanders — dairy, livestock, and some forestry. Not listed. Integrated annual and half-year reports are public once tabled in Parliament (typically ~September for the annual, ~February for the half-year). Pāmu prefers Net Operating Profit (NOP), which strips livestock and land revaluations that swing statutory NPAT. FY-end is 30 June.

NZX:PGW

Rural supplies, livestock agency, wool and related services. Earnings follow farmer spend and livestock prices more than a single commodity. NZX-listed; FY-end 30 June. Agency vs retail mix is in the company’s result presentation.

rural services FY26 on file

The other major farmer-owned fertiliser co-op, alongside Ballance. Not listed. Annual report to shareholders is the source for rebate and manufacturing. FY25 (year to 31 May) had no rebate; impairments on Dunedin manufacturing, lime assets and C-Dax turned an operating profit into a statutory loss.

NZX:RUA

NZX-listed medicinal cannabis company. Sometimes grouped with primary-sector indices but not a conventional agri issuer. Watchlist only until there is a reason to transcribe full KPIs.

other Profile only

NZX:SAN

NZX-listed wild-catch and aquaculture business (salmon and mussels). FY-end 30 September, later than most agri names. Quota, catch mix and salmon prices drive results more than the dairy season.

NZX:SCL

NZX 50 agribusiness group: Mr Apple (Hawke’s Bay apples) plus a proteins / petfood division (Meateor and related). Horticulture and proteins behave differently in a given year. The company highlights Underlying NPAT; reported NPAT can differ after M&A and one-offs. FY-end 31 December. First-half is seasonally strong for apples.

horticulture HY26 on file

NZX:SEK

NZX-listed post-harvest and produce company. Core business is kiwifruit (a large Zespri supplier) plus avocados and Australian operations. Earnings are seasonal — the first half (to 30 June) captures most of the NZ kiwifruit pack, so HY NPAT can exceed the full-year figure after winter costs. Read the company’s result commentary, not only the NZX template. FY-end is 31 December.

horticulture HY26 on file

USX:SFF

Two entities, easy to mix up. Silver Fern Farms Limited is the meat processor (about $3b revenue) — a 50/50 partnership between the farmer co-op and Shanghai Bright Meat Industry Group. Silver Fern Farms Co-operative Limited is the farmer vehicle; its shares trade on USX as SFF and it equity-accounts its half of the Ltd. USX notices are thin; the co-op annual report and Ltd result commentary are the documents that explain procurement, kill, and China JV dynamics. FY-end is 31 December; typically one annual result around March.

meat FY25 on file

NZX:SML · ASX:SM1

Dual-listed milk processor (Canterbury-based Dunsandel plant, Dairyworks, and until the Abbott deal, North Island assets). Same July year-end as Fonterra, so milk price lines up with the Fonterra Farmgate Milk Price. FY24–FY25 were dominated by losses, Dunsandel manufacturing issues, debt reduction, and the North Island sale. Reported NPAT and “underlying” NPAT/EBITDA diverge a lot — both are in the company pack. FY26 HY still includes North Island operations unless noted. From 1 August 2026 the balance date moves to 31 December (five-month TP26 stub, then calendar FY27).

dairy FY26 on file

NZX:TGG

Produce grower, packer and marketer (apples, berries, citrus, vegetables). NZX-listed; majority-owned by BayWa. FY-end 31 December. Group NPAT can include impairments on discontinued operations — HY26 is an example. Use the apples divisional result in the company pack for the trading story.

horticulture HY26 on file

USX-quoted vineyard company (Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay grapes, long-term supply to Indevin). Not a branded wine marketer like Delegat. USX notices are thin; the company’s own annual report on terravitae.co.nz is the real source. FY-end 30 June; the annual report is typically published around October.

wine FY26 on file

NZX:ATM · ASX:A2M

Dual-listed branded dairy nutritionals company (a2 Milk infant formula and liquid milk), with China the key market. Not a co-op and not a milk-price setter like Fonterra — it buys milk and sells branded product. FY-end is 30 June. From FY26, continuing versus discontinued operations matter because Mataura Valley Milk was divested; use continuing NPAT for like-for-like, and reported NPAT for the statutory bottom line.

dairy FY26 on file

Independent Waikato dairy co-op (Tatuanui) focused on specialised ingredients and nutritionals rather than bulk commodity powder. Not listed. The annual report to farmer shareholders is the source. The figure farmers watch is the cash payout per kgMS, not only group income.

dairy FY26 on file

USX:ZEN

Wool marketing business, formerly The New Zealand Merino Company; renamed Zentera Wool Company in March 2026 (ZEN on USX). Not a meat processor; grouped with livestock because merino supply is farm-gate. USX updates are short; the company investor page and annual report carry the strategy (Epic Fibre) and bale volumes. FY-end 30 June.

meat FY26 on file

USX:ZGL

Grower-owned kiwifruit marketer. Shares trade on USX (not NZX) and, under the constitution, can only be bought by people who own or lease a New Zealand kiwifruit orchard. Results are seasonal (year to 31 March), not a typical listed quarterly cycle. The useful pack is Zespri’s own season result — trays, fruit sales, grower payments and licence revenue — not the thin USX notice. NPAT including licence revenue can move the opposite way to grower returns.
